Singer, songwriter and multi-intrumentalist Taasha Coates triumphantly returns to the Wheatsheaf with her trio after a string of sellouts there late last year and earlier this year.
She was the voice of multiple ARIA Award winning folk-rock band The Audreys.
The Audreys launched in 2006 with Triple J faves “You and Steve McQueen”, “Oh Honey’ and “Banjo & Violin”, then went on to grace almost every major festival in Australia. They rocked theatres and clubs in Europe, North America and Australia, sold songs to films and tv shows far and wide, wrote music for live theatre, won awards, hit the charts, went gold and pawned their very hearts for rock and roll.
Taasha released four studio albums with The Audreys, then in 2016 she released her debut solo album, “Taasha Coates & Her Melancholy Sweethearts” produced by Shane Nicholson and released on ABC Music.
Switching between piano, guitar and ukulele, Taasha performs songs from her solo album, the odd cover and of course a solid dose of Audreys hits. With songs about love, death, sex and an embarrassing array of ex-boyfriends, Taasha’s shows are sassy, charming and often unexpectedly funny. Limited numbers, don’t miss out.
