After how well our last tea dance went, we knew immediately that we wanted to get the kettle boiling again as soon as possible. Luckily an opportunity presented itself to do just then, when we heard on the grapevine that our queer siblings down in Sydney/Warrang, House of Mince, were hosting a very special guest from overseas.
So pop the kettle on and get the cosies out, because for our next Tea Dance, Shandy has the pleasure of welcoming a guest all the way from Berlin’s Berghain:
BORIS (OSTGUT TON – BERLIN)
That’s right – it’s time again to put on your Sunday Best for the latest edition of our Tea Dance…
SHANDY TEA DANCE FEAT. BORIS (OSTGUT TON – BERLIN)
sunday 4th july | 2pm – 8:30pm | the wickham beer garden
As we explained last time, a ‘tea dance’ is a form of Sunday sesh pioneered by queers in 60s/70s-era New York before spreading worldwide – designed to soak up the sunshine and good times all while ensuring you’re home and in bed ready to start the week.
To welcome our guest, we’ve arranged for some piping hot talent to be served up from start to finish, including beats from some of our favourites including:~ CHEEK2CHEEK (the dynamic b2b duo of Mumgenes & Grace Green)
~ JAIME FORSON
But wait, that was only the first course, we have more tasty treats to dish out with performances from:~ FRIGID SINBIN
~ LINHQU (founder of iconic Sydney/Warrang pole collective, Club Chrome)
~ MINNY LAVEAU
Don’t wait to get your hands on a ticket to this piping hot event, lest you end up nursing a cold cuppa and a serious case of FOMO.
Tickets are available via Oztix for the following allocations and prices…
EARLY BIRD: $25 + Booking Fee (BF)
FIRST RELEASE: $30 + BF
FINAL RELEASE: $35 + BF
We will have also have a limited number of free tickets available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and any people who can’t afford the ticket price. To gain access to this scheme, please message the Shandy Facebook page or Instagram for more information.
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we hold this event on, and pay respects to its Elders, past and present – and also pay respects and offer our love to the First Nations community attending. Sovereignty was never ceded.
As always, please don’t assume any one’s gender or pronouns – a fun way to find out is to give someone a compliment and ask for their name and pronouns.
We want people to feel as safe and welcome as possible, so feel free to message the Shandy Instagram or Facebook page with any queries or concerns.
The bathrooms will not be gendered – they either have urinals, or don’t.
Finally, the event will be in a space that is wheelchair accessible via a ramp into the Corner Bar of The Wickham (not the Beer Garden) with ramps leading into the Beer Garden from there. If you have specific access requirements, please don’t hesitate to let us know so we can make your arrival as smooth as possible
Racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or transphobic behaviour/attitudes will not be tolerated. Please see staff or security if someone is making you uncomfortable, or message the Shandy Facebook page.
